Saturday Morning:
- You can grab a boat out on Lake Austin or Lake Travis or rent paddle boards on Lake Austin to enjoy some fun in the sun and a day on the water!
- Another fun group activity is golfing at Butler Pitch and Putt downtown. It’s about $30 a person and everyone will be given a pitcher and putter. The golf course has 9 holes each being a par 3 in the city! They sell drinks and the golf course is a vintage golf style, so very aesthetic for cute pics too!
- Lastly, another option to enjoy the weather and stay cool is to swim at Barton Springs natural pool downtown! You can grab lunch nearby on Barton Springs road and go swim in the cool waters of the natural pool, maybe even jump off the diving board with great views of the city.
- Be sure to stop by the YETI store for a shop and yummy cider on the deck after you cool off from your swim!
Saturday Afternoon/Evening
Ready to Darty?
- I’d head to the West side and check out Rustic Tap, Buford’s, Beez Kneez and Whiskey Tango FoxTrot for an afternoon of good vibes. Hungry? Walk to the best pizza place in town, Via313.
- If you’re looking for an elevated dinner, check out the Flower Shop on the East side. Be sure to make a reservation downtown at one of my speakeasy reservations afterwards.
Austin Bachelorette Weekend Itinerary by Neighborhood / Area
Rainey Street
On Rainey street lives my favorite food truck park with the best lobster truck and yummiest grilled cheese. This food park has around 10 trucks for all of your friends to choose something they want! The great thing is you can enjoy this park day or night, drunk munchies are the best.
Looking for a fun/ activity-based brunch? Try the Electric Shuffle! So fun and such a good vibe. Brunch is $50 for your meal, a bottle of champagne, and free electric shuffle. If you don’t do the brunch, their lunch and differ food is really good. They have a great happy hour deal with $7 amazing cocktails! But make a reservation.
Bangers is a total banger for brunch. With large picnic tables, beer, mimosas, and great traditional style brunch, if you’re looking for a place to be hungover at and get a cure, this is the place.
Geraldine’s is a fancier lunch / dinner spot on the top of Hotel Van Zandt on Rainey. The restaurant is tapas style, so everyone gets plates to share! Great for a group. Geraldine’s has really great wine, and a fantastic rooftop with views.
As an FYI – Rainey Street is going through a ton of construction and changes. It’s worth the stop by to see the famous street – but beware that the street is going through a bit of a revamp. If you’d like to dance, any time, any day, Clive’s will have a DJ day or shine!
Downtown Bars & Happy Hours
I call this corner of downtown ‘Speakeasy Corner’! In one area there are a ton of speakeasys, which is a great experience for a group. I’d start by getting a dirty martini at the Driskill hotel downtown. This historic hotel has been a staple in Austin since 1886 and it’s absolutely beautiful. The classic country feel is worth a stop for a nice drink. If you’re wanting a fun Irish option nearby, I’d go grab a second drink at the Dead Rabbit. It’s about a one minute walk from the Driskill–with a great atmosphere and light bites.
Right next to the Driskill is the first speakeasy, Here Nor There. They have frequently changing cocktail menus, the last two were poem-inspired cocktails based off of human memories and the second was a color theme. This is, in my opinion, one of the best cocktail restaurants in Austin! Be sure to download the Here Nor There app to apply for a table. Across the street be sure to stop by the Firehouse Hostel. You’ll open a bookcase inside and walk into a really cool divey, secret bar. On the other side of Here Nor There is a speakeasy called ‘In Plain Sight’ a 12-person bar with super creative cocktails with amazing lighting and vibe. Next, take a walk across the street to check out Small Victory, inside the red door by the garage. Ask for the bartenders choice, they have some of the most talented bartenders in Austin!
There is another speakeasy on the West side of downtown called Garage, which you can guess it, is in a garage! But, it’s such a unique spot with dim lighting and the feel of sitting in a secluded, secret area. Be sure to look for a reservation here online!
Looking for a downtown dinner spot? Check out Gina’s for a great happy hour and happy hour apps, Bill’s Oyster bar for the best happy hour oyster and dirty martini deal, and if you’re wanting some greasy grub after a night out, be sure to stop by Taqueria Ten Ten–the best taco spot in all of Austin. They also have a bar with delicious margaritas.
South Congress
Looking at trying to find a karaoke bar to hit with the gals? Let me start by saying to truly enjoy this bar you need to be a couple drinks deep. Ego’s karaoke bar has cheap drinks and the best karaoke bar/vibe + it’s in a garage so feels a little speakeasy.
Do you have a smaller group? If you have 6 people or less, I highly recommend trying June’s All Day on South Congress! It’s a European-style restaurant with to-die-for food, small plates, and drinks! The vibe is 12/10. If you’re looking for an outdoor spot with an incredible vibe that can fit more than 6, then I recommend Aba – you MUST make a reservation online, honestly a month or more in advance. It’s a place you can really dress up and snap a pic with a fabulous looking cocktail. Be sure to stop by make a reservation for Equipment Room next door, such a cool speakeasy that plays vinyals all night long.
One of my favorite daytime ‘darty’ spots is the YETI bar. Sit on a cooler, have a cold one, and enjoy the sun, good music, and a great vibe. After grabbing a cider at YETI and maybe even shopping around the store, you can walk to Auditorium Shores and walk the Lady Bird Trail! This is a great opportunity to do something active and see the city.
If you’re wanting to continue the DARTY party on South Congress and want to hear live music there are two places that are a must. First, White Tiger – this indoor/outdooor bar is such a vibe, it will remind you of your college days, but so much better. Second must-darty stop is Gueros – they have a Mexican restaurant and an amazing outdoor live music area with an outdoor bar.
The Austin Bachelorette Weekend Itinerary continues! Jazz Club fans? The Continental Club is a MUST. This original jazz club is a classic in Austin with a dive bar type feel. If you are wanting to go to a show on a Friday or Saturday night, be sure to get tickets online.
Thrifting fans? Be sure to stop by South Congress on a Friday or Saturday from noon-ish to 5pm-ish to catch all of the thrift markets and sellers on the street. You can thrift vintage t-shirts, art, jewelry, and more.
Ready for coffee time? My two favorite spots are Jo’s Coffee, which is very casual, you can walk right up to the window, and get yummy tacos and coffee. Jo’s coffee has the cute I love you sign for photos! My absolute favorite coffee shop is Two Hands Coffee, which has the banana bread in the WORLD – you can walk up to the window and sit down inside and get brunch too.
Barton Springs Area
Barton Springs is such a fun area if your group is looking for outdoor activities and more greenery! My weekend outdoor to-do list would include going to Barton Springs to swim in the natural pool, paddle boarding on Lake Austin, hiking the Green Belt, and walking Lady Bird Lake. All of these outdoor activities are very close to the Barton Springs neighborhood. As an FYI – if you’re looking to swim Barton Springs, you can’t bring in a cooler, but there is a free side where you can bring floats and a cooler, depending on what you’d like to do!
Looking for food and drinks? Check out the new wine bar called Wanderlust Wine and Coffee Co. that’s in a treehouse (great for bigger parties)! El Alma is a delicious Mexican restaurant with a fun rooftop seating area with the best margaritas, and next-door is tourists favorite BBQ, Terry Blacks. If you’ve never been, you should.
Dirty 6th Street
We do call it Dirty 6th street for a reason. If you head to the Eastside of 6th street you’ll run into Dirty 6th Street, home to live music, cheap drinks, some call it a “Nashville” vibe. Do be careful later at night in this area but it’s a great time!
Wanting to try another speakeasy before hitting the live music bars on Dirty 6? I recommend Midnight Cowboy! It is super exclusive and they bring the bar right to your table with an awesome cocktail experience.
Shakespeare’s downtown Dirty 6th and The Bling Pig in my opinion always has the best bands! You can dance on the rooftops and easily bar hop band to band, bar to bar. There is also a dueling piano bar, Darwin’s is my favorite, but some like Pete’s, both have incredible singers and piano players with very affordable drinks, such a good time!
West 6th Street
Looking for a good night on the town? This area typically does have a lot of college students as it is a little more late-night-dance-vibes. A few fun options for partying are Buford’s, Whiskey Tango FoxTrot, Green Light Social, WYLD BAR, and the best for last is the Rustic Tap which typically has live bands, sporting games on, and great food and drinks. There are a ton of bars to hop — it’s a great place to get dropped off and be able to beebop around.
If you’re staying on the West side and are looking for some food spots, I’d recommend Better Half for breakfast and lunch, with great coffee, as well as, Swedish Hill across the street. They have one of the best to-go breakfast menus in town!
East 6th Street
East 6th Street is where the local Austin folks go to grab a beer, eat amazing food, and dance! After a comedy show at Comedy Mothership, head the the East side and grab a bite at Uptown Sports Club for Louisiana-style cuisine and a 10/10 atmosphere. I also love a newer spot called The Flower Shop which is a cheeky, nostalgic home-styled bar with a beautiful interiors, American classic cuisine, and delicious cocktails — this is one of my favorites! I’d then walk over to LoLo Wine Bar for a delicious glass of natural wine with an assortment of bottles to kick off the evening. If you’re interested in dancing, I’d head over to Whislers for an espresso martini and a packed house and join the party at Lucky Duck, Hotel Vegas, and Lefty’s for a night of fun!
I hope this Austin bachelorette weekend itinerary helps you and your gal pals have the weekend of your life, making unforgettable memories. Let us know below what activities were your favorite?
