I am Mollie Henning (@molliehenning), and I am writing to tell you everything you need to know about taking a weekend trip to Interlaken, Switzerland! Interlaken is the cutest little mountain town, with gorgeous views! It is a very outdoorsy place to visit. Here is your guide to a weekend in the charming Swiss alp town of Interlaken.
Activities
While taking a weekend trip to Interlaken, Switzerland, there are several things I recommend doing! Paragliding is a very popular thing to do in Interlaken. When you walk the street, you can see numerous people paragliding all day long. There are a bunch of different companies to go through. I believe my friends used a company called Paragliding Interlaken. The company takes videos and pictures of your experience and gives you round-trip transportation. They all had a great experience.
A few more activities that are popular to do in Interlaken are skydiving, through the company Skydive Interlaken, kayaking on Lake Brienz through the company High Tide Kayak School, and hang gliding through the company Bumblebee Hang-gliding. There is a hike to do in Interlaken called the Harder Kulm Hike. It’s 5 miles and takes 4 hours, 2 hours up and 2 hours down. There are fantastic views at the top and even a restaurant! There is a ski resort called Grindelwald that is also a very popular activity to do in Interlaken. To get there, take bus 105 for three stops. Purchase a round trip ticket when going so you can bus back too! I strongly recommend doing the chocolate making class at Funky Chocolate Club. It was amazing and Swiss chocolate is known for being one of the best chocolates- let me tell you it did not disappoint. We even got to make three chocolate bars to take home.
Food
Breakfast—For breakfast, I heard Velo cafe was really yummy and had good coffee!
Lunch—I loved Des Alps! Make sure to get the Swiss Mac n cheese, I promise you won’t regret it.
Dinner—They have a Hooters in Interlaken! If you are craving some comfort food from America, Hooters is your place to go to in Interlaken.
Dessert—Funky Chocolate & get their hot chocolate and chocolate-covered strawberries…delicious!
Hotels
I stayed at Hotel Toscana through Airbnb, and it was so nice and a perfect place to stay with a great location.
What to Wear
Now that I’ve told you what to do and where to stay in Interlaken, I am sure you are wondering, “What do I wear!!??!” Don’t you worry, I’ve got you covered! Your vibe is a sporty-chic mountain town hottie who wears layers.
I recommend packing things like the following:
-cute cropped or long puffer (a fun printed one would be so cool)
-fuzzy earmuffs
-winter hat
-gloves
-leather leggings
-a comfortable long sleeve for layering
-a pair of jeans (I think straight leg baggy jean would be cute and comfy) -a water-resistant pull over in case it rains or snows
-good walking/ hiking shoes like a boot or sneaker
-an athletic one-piece would be adorable and easy to layer with a turtle neck
-ski pants/ski suit if you plan to ski/ snowboarding.
Now you are prepared for your trip to Interlaken. I hope you take my tips and have an amazing weekend in the charming town of Interlaken!
